I'm a respected and experienced Public Relations specialist and creative writer, and for more than 30 years I’ve helped clients tell their stories.

I’m in the business of making word salads, challenging perceptions, managing reputations and celebrating successes through strategic PR and compelling copy writing, and am equally at home at a boardroom table, a kitchen island or perched on an agency’s climbing wall.

I’ve always loved talking and writing…

After working in publicity in film and TV in Auckland, I built a very successful Public Relations company, working with major global brands, fashion designers and movie stars. In 2000 I chose to chase love, trading the bright lights for Hawke’s Bay’s more subdued hues.

When I'm not talking or writing, I can be found playing the cello in the Hawke’s Bay Orchestra, teaching and playing the piano, or strumming a 12-string. I'm a devoted mother and wife, and quite a good, if not incredibly messy baker. My mother will attest to that (fudge mixture on the door handles anyone?)

I also have a love of all things 'owl' and can crochet a mean blanket.

An identity mash-up

For the past 11 years I have been working and writing under my married name Sarah Thornton. Still married, but the time simply feels right to revert to my maiden name.
